Fund Raisers

All Lions are expected to participate in our various fund-raising projects since this is where the club obtains the money necessary to support our benevolence program outlined below.Fundraisers

Our major project, in terms of receipts and time expended, is the annual Yard Sale held in the autumn. Items donated to the club for this sale by individuals here at the Lake or in the immediate vicinity are collected and stored by Lions throughout the year.

The annual Maple Syrup and Peanuts Sale, normally scheduled in November,is another source of income for the club.

The 300 Club is a licensed form of lottery and a major source of funds for the club. Three hundred numbers are sold to club members and the public at $25 each and prizes, ranging from $10 to $100, awarded weekly for 26 weeks, concluding with a grand prize of $300.

The Tree of Love, during the Christmas Season, is a special fund-raiser with all proceeds going to one or more families in this area who are in special need. Money is collected from members and the public who pay $5 or more for one or more lights - in honor of or in memory of someone - to be placed on the Tree, which is erected at a nearbyshopping center.

In the spring, members make solicitations from the public for funds to assist the blind and for sight conservation during White Cane Days.

The Lions Golf Tournament, held in the summer, is both a fundraiser and an opportunity for fun and companionship.

A recent, and surprisingly successful, fundraiser has been the production and installation of uniform Identification Posts, with reflective numbers, at the entrance to driveways at Lake of the Woods. This has proven to be a highly popular program - over 976 have been installed as of September 2008 - and, for obvious reasons, has the full support of Fire and Rescue as well as those delivering newspapers to homes.
