Community Emergency Services

The LOW Lions Club sets aside a limited amount of funds each year to provide financial assistance to Orange County residents who demonstrate urgent and exceptional needs in the areas of housing, ongoing access to utilities, medical issues and transportation needs. Financial eligibility of the individual will be assessed in the areas of income sources and other financial commitments.  Requests for individual financial support will be considered only once in any 12-month period. Inquiries should be directed to LionsHelp@lowlions.org

Community Needs Grants

The LOW Lions Club Foundation annually awards grants to other Orange County area organizations or groups. These grants are typically awarded in the early Spring. The grants are intended to fill a specific need or help fund a new project for an organization or group and will not result in recurrent funding. Grant recipients are eligible to be considered again for additional grants in the future, as long as the intent is to meet a different need. Individuals may not apply for a Community Needs Grant.

It is expected that grant recipients will provide follow-up documentation to show that the grant funds were used for their intended purpose.

To find out more about the LOW Lions Club Foundation Community Needs Grants, you may contact Committee Chair, Lion Jane Haltmaier at lowlions.communitygrants@gmail.com

Eyeglass Recycling

Eyeglass Recycling

LOW Lions collect and process used eyeglass donations received locally and from the Regional Lions Eyeglass Distribution Center in Northern Virginia. If you have eyeglasses you would like to donate, they can be dropped off at the Holcomb or Walker buildings in LOW or at the Lions yard sale on Saturday mornings.

Eyeglasses are sorted, washed and dried.

Volunteers use a lensometer machine to determine the prescription of each pair of eyeglasses. The eyeglasses are labeled, packaged and sent to Lions Distribution Centers for delivery to those in need.

LOW Lions hosts other Lions clubs and other organizations like AARP to participate in recycling activities. If your organization would like to volunteer, please contact Lion Charles Miller (817)773-5671.
